General notes:
This archive contains the output of two projects that were delivered by East Renfrewshire Culture & Leisure to document the Covid pandemic in the local area:Beyond 2020: Community Reflections:As part of Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, the project Beyond 2020: Community Reflections invited people from across East Renfrewshire to share their stories of the pandemic. A team of volunteers received professional oral history training and went on to interview and record the experiences of over 40 people from all walks of life, who live and/or work in East Renfrewshire. Another group attended creative writing workshops and produced new writing, reflecting their own experiences. The project culminated in a touring exhibition which travelled around East Renfrewshire Culture & Leisure venues and a main exhibition which will was on display at Eastwood Park Theatre gallery. These exhibitions invited visitors to share some of the stories gathered. Excerpts from the creative writing were on display and ten of the recorded stories were brought to live through portraits by professional photographer, Wes Kingston.Reflect with Us:In late 2021, East Renfrewshire Culture & Leisure, supported by Creative Scotland delivered a songwriting project. A series of free workshops was offered at Thorntree Hall, Thornliebank which invited participants to explore their experiences and reflections on the period since the Covid pandemic began.
