General notes:
The Barrhead Time Capsule 1903 was placed in the wall of Barrhead Public School, Water Road, to commemorate the beginning of building work for an extension of the school which was completed in 1906. The first headmaster Allan Rodger from Wishaw, was headmaster from 1870 until he retired in 1907. The school was known as Barrhead Public School, then Barrhead Higher Grade School and then Barrhead High School. It was also known locally as Rodger’s school.
