General notes:
Following the 1889 Local Government (Scotland) Act. County Councils took over control of sanitation and water supplies. Territories of the Busby Water Co included Busby, Clarkston, Giffnock, Netherlee and Muirend. Glasgow Corporation proposed to take over this area but Renfrew County opposed them. The result was the Eastwood and Mearns Water Act, 1907 and the Glasgow plans were defeated. Eaglesham, Mearns, part of Eastwood Parish and part of Cathcart Parish were brought under the control of Renfrew County.
