General notes:
Caldwell Church opened in 1889 and in 1890 it had a congregation of 400. Its construction was supported by a variety of well-known people from the area, including the Hon. Mrs. Mure of Caldwell, Dr. Pride of Neilston, Mrs. Glen of Carlibar and Alexander Crum of Thornliebank. The communion table and choir stalls are a memorial to the Rev. David Stewart and are made of hand-carved oak.
