General notes:
Uplawmoor's history is very closely linked with the history of the Mure family who are descended from Sir Reginald More of Abercorn, Chamberlain of Scotland in 1329. The textile industry never took hold in Uplawmoor the way it did in Neilston, but the village did have a sawmill and a tileworks.
