General notes:
Crookfur House, a charming old, ivy clad mansion, occupied the site where the Cottage/Drapers' Homes now stand. The Crookfur Cottage Homes were opened in 1966 and were designed by Sir Basil Spence to resemble Fishermen's Cottages, known locally as the "drapers" homes because they originally housed retired people from the large department stores.
