General notes:
The inscription on the front of the photo reads "Uncle Harry Johnson's Giffnock Farm, Scotland" which was the home of the Johnson family in 1882. Mary Johnson and John Wark had emigrated to Australia in 1854. In 1994 the farmhouse had become the headquarters of McCarthy & Stone, builders on the busy Fenwick Road and was demolished that year to make way for retirement flats.
