General notes:
The house in this picture was built c.1700 to replace a previous one, by a branch of the Mure family who owned the Glanderston estate. Later on the estate belonged to Speirs of Elderslie, a Glasgow tobacco baron. The "Glasgow Group" artist, E. A. Walton, was born here in 1860. The house has since been demolished.
