General notes:
Dr. Pride's home had been a Union bank before he moved in. Both he and his father were forceful characters much loved by the people of Neilston and the surrounding farms. The son published a History of Neilston Parish in 1910. Though dated in its approach it is still a valuable source of information. The house is still an outstanding feature in the village and is used as a masonic lodge. The first masonic lodge met in Neilston in 1817.
