In summer 1951 the Barrhead Players drama group won the Howard de Walden Trophy of the British Drama League. At the same time, the Barrhead Co-op Choir came fourth in the Festival of Britain Competition in London. When the Players arrived back in Barrhead, they were greeted by a crowd, and the choir performed a welcome for their fellow artists. This picture shows the civic reception held in the Players' honour in the September of the same year.
