General notes:
Thornliebank Bowling Club was founded in 1898 following a public meeting and was promoted by the Thornliebank Calico Printing Company and the Crum family who leased them land for the green. Of the four hundred shares issued to raise money, the Thornliebank Company owned around 200 and it was part of the club's constitution that the Company appointed three of the office bearers. William Graham Crum was the first president. Thornliebank Bowling club was particularly successful in the Nether Pollok Estate Cup which they qualified to play in as Sir John Stirling Maxwell of Nether Pollok had feued ground to the Crums, later Club ground in 1879. The contract for building the Pavilion of Thornliebank Bowling Club was awarded to local builder, Duncan Cameron. The building was extended in 1922 and again in 1929.
