General notes:
The name "Barrhead" seems to have come from a cottage built in the 1760s by a handloom weaver called Stewart Wilson. He named the cottage "Bar-heid" from the bars or farm "riggs" visible from his window. The cottage later became part of Barrhead Main Street.
