General notes:
Bell's Asbestos & Engineering Ltd. stood at 84 Ayr Road, Mearns and its warehouse was originally an old mill building. The mainstay of the company's production was asbestos, either for safety clothing, insulation or engineering components. In the 1960s the office manager was Mr. Leslie Kyles who was a member of the Progressive Party (conservatives) and stood as their candidate in the Cowcaddens District. In the late 60s or early 70s the company moved to the city centre and the site was occupied by a luxury food retailer. After some time the premises were demolished and flats were built where the old mill once stood.
