The letter welcomes Jean as a member of the Children's League of Nations, an organisation which we know little about, but which presumably worked towards the same aims of worldwide peace as the original League of Nations after the First World War. The reverse of the membership cards asks members to recruit their friends, because "the more people there are to back the League, the more strength it will have to keep the peace".
