Although there is no indication of what class she was in at this point, Margaret would have been 8 years old when she was writing in this jotter. She got good marks for many of the spelling exercises it contains. Towards the end is a letter to Santa from Christmas Eve, 1929, where she writes, "I would please like a Xmas Stocking and a Shell Flower."
