Robert Gibson & Sons Ltd is named as one of the members of the Glasgow booksellers' committee. The competition encouraged children to list twelve children's books which they felt should be added to the Mitchell Library's collection, and which did not appear in the Book Exhibition's display for an ideal children's library. On the back page is the list of books which did appear in the exhibition's bookcase, and it includes both classics that we still recognise today, such as Little Women and Black Beauty, and titles that have long since fallen out of fashion.
