Mr Carbine opened a business shortly after World War I repairing crystal radio sets with his partner Mr. Ferguson. Over the years they developed a thriving garage at Eastwood Toll, Giffnock. Mr Carbine bought out his partner and ran the business with his son until the late 1980s. (Information from donor)
