A collection of press cuttings, related notes, photographs and pamphlets associated with the local history of Thornliebank and district, collected by the Rev. R.F. Whiteley of Woodlands Church, Thornliebank. The collection belonging to the Rev. R. F. Whiteley, was well organized with a detailed list, numbered 1-13, which itemised the contents with brief descriptions. The collection has a focus on the local area of Thornliebank with reference to the churches with relevant documents, the people, the local schools and education, local clubs and societies and firms, with a personal diary and 2 photographs.Possibly the collection was gathered in order to become the outline for a local book on Thornliebank.There are pencil markings in some of the documents listed which have been highlighted, on the basis it may have been the information Rev. Whiteley was gathering for his book. Although the book may not have been written, we are able to capture a flavour of the potential content, which was important for the Reverend by making this cuttings collection.
