General notes:
Photographs relating to this church are held by RCAHMS. The church was built in 1846 for the congregation of the Free Protesting Church of Scotland, formed in 1843 following the Disruption. At this point, Rev. Alexander Salmon left the Bourock Church in Barrhead with most of the elders and over 350 members of the congregation. One of the first acts of the newly formed Free Church in Barrhead was to open a school at Foundry Brae.
