General notes:
A fire severely damaged Caldwell House in 1995 and it has been left to deteriorate. An original Caldwell House had belonged to William Mure, a defeated Covenanter, who died in Holland in 1690. His estates were conferred on General Tam Dalziel, who left them to become ruins.
