General notes:
Black and white photograph of a printed notice, which says: "Any person or persons found trespassing through the fences, or in the parks or woods belonging to Arthur Watson of Overlee, or going down the water side, on any pretence whatever, will be prosecuted as the Law directs. As there has been damage done to our pease, potatoes, and turnips, a man armed with a gun is appointed to watch and protect our property; also there is scattered in a number of places, Crow Toes and Man Traps, so if any person or persons are hurt after this public warning, they will have themselves to blame. Arthur Watson". One of the original notices is in the possession of Mr. Ian Craig. The notices were posted by Arthur Watson about his lands and estate for the portection of his property. The family of Watson were considerable landowners in Busby, Sheddens and Stamperland and had their residence at "Overlee House", which still stands. In 1849 Arthur Watson leased the land on which stood the old "Buck's Head", in Feu Farm, for the consideration of Forty Pounds Sterling, to Andrew Colquhoun, print cutter, of Busby, with the buldings thereon. He also leased the adjoining piece of land, on the Eaglesham Road, to John Calderwood, Blacksmith.
