General notes:
Millhall was built on the Dunwan Burn in 1822 and produced cotton wad for use in hospitals to bind wounds as well as spinning shuttle cord for power-looms and candle wicks. This mill was originally owned by John White but after 1837 the owner was Ludovic Gavin. Later power looms were introduced for the weaving of blankets and tweeds.
