General notes:
From Barrhead Museum Collection. Handball was a popular game, and the Crofthead club was a leading team. It played against other villages as far away as Galston, Ayrshire. Handball was played against a wall which was specially built or against an existing wall such as a gable. Crofthead Mill had its own handball pitch in Neilston and generally encouraged a number of sporting and leisure activities.
