General notes:
From Barrhead Museum Collection B2209. Barrhead has had a long association with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. This photograph of a Territorial Army parade was taken in the mid 1950s. The building, then the T A Drill Hall, was formerly Dealston House, later the United Services Club. At one time during the war, about a thousand soldiers were quartered in South Arthulie Barracks. In 1942, a division of American troops were quartered in the Caldwell area and became part of the social life of the town.
