General notes:
The Parish Council was introduced in 1895 when the old Neilston Parochial Board, established after the 1845 Poor Law (Scotland) Act, gave way to an elected council with 15 members, of whom 8 were from Barrhead. The Parish Council were responsible for many public improvements in Neilston including gas street lighting in 1910.(Second large original is in the oversize photographs box)
