In 1984 Eastwood District Council in partnership with the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland invited architects and developers to submit imaginative schemes for housing on %27The Thumb%27at Eastwood Toll. The winning architects were Dunlop and Paige, Glasgow and the builders were McLaren Homes. The new building was designed as retirement flats. The land had once been part of the gardens of Eastwoodhill House.
