General notes:
Corporal Stanley Bolden was an SAS soldier in World War II, who died while taking part in a raid on German headquarters in Albinea, northern Italy. Stanley was aged 24 when he died in 1945, and had only been married a couple of years. He was brought up at 2 Eastwood Avenue, Giffnock, the family home until the mid 1950s. The successful raid, which also involved Italian partisans, is commemorated in Albinea every year in March, and an account of it is given in the book "Winged Dagger" by Major Roy Farran.
