General notes:
In 1845 Gorbals Waterworks created a series of reservoirs near Mearns and Barrhead, along the Brock Burn. In 1853/54 the Brock Burn was diverted to the east of Balgray and west of Waulkmill Glen due to the building of other reservoirs. The new artificial conduit included a waterfall below Barrhead road, possibly where this photograph was taken.
