General notes:
Jean Gibson was a member of the Girls' Club at Barrhead High School in the early 1930s. This article outlines her memories of this time, including the activities, holidays and personalities involved. Any names have been added to the Gibson Names Index. It is a fascinating look at this period in a young girl's life (Jean would have been 12-13 years old). One striking note is that Jean mentions in passing that she was diagnosed with scarlet fever in 1931 and spent time recovering in Darnley Hospital. Unfortunately, this disease would claim the life of her younger sister Margaret less that two years later.
