General notes:
Eliza travelled widely throughout her lifetime, visiting Australia, Canada, the USA, Egypt and the Holy Land, as well as many European countries. Apparently she was in Switzerland at the outbreak of World War One and had an adventurous journey home. We don't know much about this visit to Egypt, but we do have a postcard from the trip that she sent to her niece, Margaret Gibson, signed "Lala", her pet name (Record 2689).
