General notes:
In February 1945, the SS Henry Bacon was in a convoy transporting Norwegian refugees to Scotland when it was attacked by German bombers. Many of the crew gave their lives to save the refugees who were brought to a camp in Neilston where they stayed until it was safe to return home.
