The Barrhead Players won the Howard de Walden trophy in 1951 with the play 'Displaced Persons' by Mrs. Elizabeth Milne. On returning home they were welcomed by Provost Hutchison and huge crowds of local people. The group were paraded through the town on an open top lorry.
