Here you see the kind of houses people lived in before the housing schemes were built (cottages and low tenements). Dovecothall, formerly known as Ducatmyllne, took its name from the large stone dovecots built by the Stewarts of Darnley about 1449 for the large flock of pigeons, which supplied meat for their small garrison in the Tower of Rais.
